There are a few great things that made me thankful that I'm from Malaysia. And one of them is food. Yes. Because our country is a diversify country, we tend to have lots and lots of modern and traditional cuisines. Other than separated specialty cuisine from each of the different races here, we also have cuisines that is incorporated into each other and become one whole new cuisine.
The last 5 days that we're home, I've been happily stuffing my face with foods. Luckily for me it isn't fast food but a proper cooked foods like nasi minyak for breakfast (it's Kuantan tradition, it's not the same like in weddings but a better one), cantonese fried mee for lunch, Ikan patin and Ikan bawal for dinner and pretzel for dessert. And because my mother-in-law is one of the organizers of the MAHA expo, by the end of the day she would bring home a lot of great foods from the local entrepreneurs and make us eat them. Guiltily I would have to say. The Maha was a success this year as millions of visitors, local and foreign, were there to explore and enjoy some of Malaysian best dishes picked and selected to be in the expo from all around the country.
Right now I'm in the quest of finding a great restaurant to enjoy my time here. I'm in Kuantan right now and this afternoon we went to Laguna restaurant an Indonesian cuisine restaurant. The food was great! And tomorrow we might drive off to kemaman to taste their best and famous satar and keropok lekor.
And if you're in Kuantan, you should try cantonese fried mee in Hyatt hotel Kampung restaurant. Though it cost RM22 for a plate, they have by far the best cantonese mee I've tasted so far.
Anybody knows a great place to eat in KL?
